Taking full advantage of the accelerometer in iPhones and iPads, Apollo 360VR allows users to physically move their devices to simulate a comprehensive exploration of all six Apollo lunar landing sites. The panoramas included in the app were meticulously crafted by Mike Constantine from Moonpans.com, utilizing individual frames captured by Apollo astronauts. These frames have been skillfully assembled into seamless 360-degree images, offering an immersive viewing experience.

The panoramic images were integrated into specialized astronomy software developed by Mike Smithwick of DistantSuns, where they were enriched with a virtual Sun and Earth. Additionally, iPhone users can activate VR Goggles mode, enabling them to place their devices into headset adapters for an even more immersive experience.
