Apollo 360VR for iOS offers a unique virtual reality experience, enabling users to explore the lunar surface from the perspective of the Apollo astronauts. This application showcases high-resolution, 360-degree panoramas that feature a virtual Sun and Earth, accompanied by authentic mission audio and optional narration for enhanced engagement.

Taking full advantage of the accelerometer in iPhones and iPads, Apollo 360VR allows users to physically move their devices to simulate a comprehensive exploration of all six Apollo lunar landing sites. The panoramas included in the app were meticulously crafted by Mike Constantine from Moonpans.com, utilizing individual frames captured by Apollo astronauts. These frames have been skillfully assembled into seamless 360-degree images, offering an immersive viewing experience.

The panoramic images were integrated into specialized astronomy software developed by Mike Smithwick of DistantSuns, where they were enriched with a virtual Sun and Earth. Additionally, iPhone users can activate VR Goggles mode, enabling them to place their devices into headset adapters for an even more immersive experience.

This application presents a remarkable opportunity to witness sights seen by only twelve Moonwalkers. With mission audio recordings from the astronauts communicating with mission control in Houston during each panorama's capture, along with optional narration and annotations designed to identify various features, Apollo 360VR is a captivating educational tool for space enthusiasts and casual users alike.
